Shoulder dog
Figure 1 [Roger Knuck]
There are many types of dogs, such as hunting dogs, sheepdogs, police dogs, and even sea dogs, but this is the first time we have come across a shoulder dog. In fairy tales, we often find women with supernatural powers carrying a raven on their shoulder; but a dog?
What one observant photographer managed to capture here is the common shoulder dog, complete with coat. But the most important thing is that it is on a friction-enhancing surface, known as an anti-slip jacket. There is no other way he could keep a good purchase on the rider's shoulder in the face of all the horizontal and vertical acceleration forces.
